Gas Up Yr Hearse!

Punx gone ape shit from Illinois. Founded in 2011. The members are Pat, Kyle, Andy, Nelson, and Lucero. This band sounds like the offspring of The Locust and Calling Gina Clark. Here's some east coast dirt for you. Their bandcamp page shows the lyrics to their demo, which is pretty out of hand by the way. Makes you want to break some stuff, and practice blast beats. Support the punx, they do it for the love.

мища / Te Lloraría un Puto Río

One of my favorite releases this year. TLUPR is one of my favorite bands ever. Chaotic, groovy, driving, and they have that latin spice that gets the juices flowing. I also had the pleasure of hosting the dudes from MNWA here in Gainesville, during their summer tour. Needless to say they rip live, and are super sweet dudes. Friends For Life and La Flor put out the tape. Get it.

Friends For Life (Big Cartel)

tenthousandleagues

Ten Thousand Leagues is a punk band from California. They recently put out a summer tour demo. It is one of the most chaotic releases I've heard this year. Their other releases are awesome, all available for streaming at their bandcamp. You can also read the lyrics to their demo there. Check it.

Adobe Homes

Adobe Homes is a screamy punk band from Albaquerque, New Mexico. They sound like they are from New Mexico, their sound has their surroundings embedded to it, and their lyrics speak of it as well (read them at the bear records bandcamp). This is one of the most original bands I've heard. They have taken hardcore and made it their own. Angst, confusion, loss, and most importantly honesty is transmitted clearly through their sound. These guys have been playing punk for a while, and you can definitely tell that their sound as a whole is a product of close friendship and hard work. Support this band and reach out to them if their music comes to affect you in a positive way.

Innurdz

New Innards is simply hope for the punk scene. Music from the heart. Short songs to the point and flowing in different directions seamlessly. Innards is a beast; look out for it.

Six Brew Bantha

Six Brew Bantha are a grind-core band from Victoria, British Columbia. They play at face melting speeds. Their live act is super intense. I had the privilege of seeing them along with napalm raid at Wayward Council (RIP) here in Gainesville a couple of months back; they blew me away to say the least. These new tracks are going to be on two different splits the band will be putting out on the near future, they are incredibly abrasive to the ear canal.  Check it.

interskramz Volume II

interskramz Records is releasing a comp of modern screamy bands including well established acts such as Beau Navire, mnwa, Raein, The Saddest Landscape and more. My personal favorite tracks are by Lord Snow (ex: Suffix), SjanseSloths, and  Angkor Wat. A band that I'm a part of, Junior Healy, is also featured in this release, which makes it really special to me. A real dream come true to be a part of something along with so many people that I really admire. Support DIY because it is fosters sharing and equality. The comp will be up for sale pretty soon at their webstore. Word spice.

Short Stories About Their Distance

Screamy emo two-piece from Illinois. I have been listening to this demo non stop for a couple of days. Their sound is similar to that of 90's emo bands, it's got a lot a jazzy elements as well. They remind me a little of State Street Residential. The songs are super catchy and sound like they're really heart felt. I wish to see these guys in Florida sometime soon. They have 30 copies of the demo for sale, and it is also available for download at their bandcamp. You can name your own price, so if you can support these dudes.

Hot Cross

One of the most influential and original screamo bands, and one of my favorites, if not my favorite. Hot Cross was probably the first real screamo band i listened to.They are very inspiring musically and lyrically in my case. Their sound is characterized by mathy structures that shift from aggressive frustration to sluggish lament. Billy Werner's lyrics often speak of existential themes. They had several ep's and splits along with two full length releases; Cryonics being my favorite. They broke up after releasing Risk Revival in 2007.

Antilles

Antilles are a post-hardcore band from Cleveland, they have been around for a good bit and have put out some great material. I would compare them to Phoenix Bodies because of their constant gang/dual vocals, but they are not as punky, but rather melodic and at times post rocky.  My favorite releases have to be the split with Trifle Tower, and the split with Staph. They are supposedly working on a full length at the moment. All their releases are up for download at their tumblr page for free. They also have a bandcamp, which includes lyrics to many of their songs. Give them a try, reach out to them, and/or buy their material.

Angkor Wat

Peruvian screamy, who would have thought. The good news is that this band is legit as balls. It sounds like Malasyan acts like Utarid, or Kias Fansuri; frantic, noisy, and chaotic. It would be awesome to see these guys up here in the U.S. Enjoy!

Foxmoulder

Canadian punx from Toronto, their sound is reminiscing of older screamo bands such as, yossarian is drowning, am i dead yet, utarid, and so forth; noisy, fast, chaotic. The recording quality is a bit fuzzy, but it only adds to the music's bleak and genuine character.
